Owner and Principal
Ron Perkins is the founding principal
and owner of Design Perspectives, a firm specializing in usability
testing and human-computer interaction design. He has created
new methods for customer research including hybrid market research/usability
testing, consumer product testing, and remote testing using the
Internet for customer research on evolving Web sites.
Ron's resume shows 20 years of experience as
a recognized expert in the field of human-computer interaction.
He has spoken at national conferences, published papers and articles
for the Association for Computing Machinery ACM
SIGCHI, Interactions Magazine, Usability
Professionals Association, and Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
He also contributed to the book "Usability
in Practice", Academic Press, 1994.
As
a researcher at AT&T New Media Services, he instituted a structured
program to test prototype software under development as well as
visit customers to determine their needs for interactive services.
He is skilled at moderating usability studies, expert reviews of interface
designs, creating prototypes, and designing human interfaces to
simplify complex interaction. In
his spare time he enjoys sailboat racing, mountain biking, skiing, windsurfing,
backpacking and playing with his various nieces and nephews.
